The EF 2x II--which also maintains an EOS camera's Image Stabilization technology--carries a one-year warranty. Magnification: 2.0x. Lens construction: 7 elements in 5 groups. Dimensions: 2.8 inches in diameter and 2.3 inches long. Weight: 9.3 ounces.

Depending upon how exacting your tastes, you may not be happy with the results from the 2X extender. To me, even when used with Canon's highest IQ primes (200 f2, 300 and 400 f2.8), the quality hit is very noticeable. It appears to be Canon EF extenders are only for those costly lenses. Canon says "If you want to use our extenders you need to be worthy enough to buy our costly lenses". Each lens in the compatibility list for both 1.4x and 2x are $1500 and above. Not true. There are plenty of lenses below 1.5k : 135 f2. 180 f3,5. 200 f2,8. 70-200 f2,8. 70-200
I already own the Canon 70-200 2.8 II. The question is, what will give me sharper images: (1) Tamron 150-600 or (2) the Canon 70-200 2.8 II + Canon Extender EF 2X III. Obviously, buying the extender would be a lot cheaper and lighter than carrying around another heavy zoom. . 480 3 250 338 193 496 199 302
