The1.5 is probably the shout. Arguably the sweet spot in the range performance / economy-wise. After the 1.8 (158bhp) you may find the 1.0 slightly sluggish, especially if you use your estate to lug stuff about. Good luck. Either way, the Mk3 is a decent step up in most regards.

I came from a MK2.5 Tdci to a 150 bhp 1.5 and the Torque is the same, but the petrol engine is a lot faster and more refined.
